Privacy Policy
Pinlyy is a Life Atlas: a private map of the places you have been and the memories you made there. This policy explains what Pinlyy collects, what stays on your iPhone, and what you can delete.
What we collect
Account information
When you create an account we store your email address, username, display name and optional profile photo. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the identifier and the email address that provider returns. If you use Sign in with Apple's Hide My Email, we only ever see the relay address.
Content you save
Memories, Trips, places, notes, keepsakes and the photos you attach to them are stored on our servers so they are available across your devices and can be restored if you lose your phone. Each Memory carries the location and date you assign to it.
Photo library analysis (on your device)
If you grant photo library access, Pinlyy reads the dates and locations already attached to your photos, and uses Apple's on-device Vision and Photos frameworks to group them into candidate trips and moments. This analysis runs entirely on your iPhone. The resulting index, the candidates, and your accept/dismiss decisions are stored locally on the device. They are not uploaded. A photo is sent to our servers only when you choose to save it to a Memory or Keepsake.
Optional AI souvenir crafting
When you explicitly choose to craft a ceramic Trip Magnet, selected original Memory photos and Keepsake images are sent to OpenAI for image generation. This can include private photos. No photo-library index, unselected library photos, Vision analysis, or notes are sent. OpenAI does not use API content for training by default; safety monitoring can retain content for up to 30 days, subject to exceptions described in OpenAI's data controls. Generated editions are stored privately by Pinlyy and remain available after a Pro subscription ends. You can delete an edition; minimal generation-usage records remain until account deletion. Free cutout generation stays on your iPhone.
Location
Pinlyy requests location only while you are using the app, and only to find places near you when you ask it to. We do not track your location in the background.
Purchases
Pinlyy Pro subscriptions are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details. Our subscription provider, RevenueCat, tells us whether your subscription is active so the app can unlock Pro features.
Diagnostics and usage
We collect anonymous-by-default product analytics and crash information to understand which parts of the app work and which break. This is not used for advertising, and Pinlyy does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Service providers
We share the minimum necessary with the following processors:
- Apple — sign-in, push notification delivery, in-app purchases.
- Google — sign-in, if you choose Google.
- RevenueCat — subscription status.
- OneSignal — push notification delivery.
- PostHog — product analytics and crash diagnostics.
- Mapbox — map rendering. Map requests include the map area being viewed.
- Pexels — stock destination imagery. Your content is never sent to Pexels.
- OpenAI — image generation only when you explicitly request AI souvenir crafting.
- Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery and storage of the media you save.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and content until you delete them. Deleting a Memory removes it and its photos from our servers. Deleting your account removes your profile, Memories, Trips, keepsakes and uploaded media. Backups are purged on a rolling basis within 30 days.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account and all of its content from inside the app: Profile → Settings → Delete account. The deletion is permanent and we do not keep a copy. If you cannot access the app, email [email protected] from your account's email address and we will delete it for you.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict how we use it. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
Pinlyy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Access to production data is limited to the people who need it to operate the service. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep the amount of data we hold deliberately small.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that materially affects you, we will update this page and, where appropriate, tell you in the app.
